Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Reel?
A reel is a 2-ish minute cut of scenes edited together from an actor’s experience. Your Reel is how you will put your best foot forward by showing off your best and most notable work that is 100% focused on you. See some examples HERE
Why have a Reel?
There are tons of aspiring actors out there. How do you stand out? How do you show yourself “in the zone” to a director looking to cast a production? This is where the reel comes in. You want a very short video that highlights your work while on the job that will grab the director’s attention and get you a call. It’s one thing to say “I was in [insert TV or movie]” and another thing to show it.
Why work with me?
I strive to make you look good. Unlike many other Reel editing services, I will respond quickly and get you the best quality Reel possible, fast. You won’t be waiting weeks to hear back and months to get your Reel.
I also include you in the editing process. Step by step, the process looks like this:
Initial contact and discussion – a few emails back and forth to get on the same page.
You transfer the clips of your work for me to edit, including your comments if any.
Taking into account your comments, I will edit an outro with your headshot and contact info. Think of it as a digital business card. This will be sent to you first for your thoughts.
While you get back to me on the outro, a first pass edit will be completed and sent for your thoughts.
You view your first pass Reel and provide your feedback.
I edit 2nd pass and seek feedback again.
Repeat until you are happy with the output of your Reel. You can expect this to take 2-3 passes.
What content is appropriate for a Reel?
So many listings online offer custom scenes made up for use in a reel. This is not a good idea. Few things are more frustrating to directors then getting an actor’s reel or seeing their IMDB filled with a bunch of false work.
If you were cast for a production – Reel worthy
Anything else? – most likely NOT Reel worthy
Directors don’t want to see the made up scenes that someone wrote. They know if it’s not a produced work and this won’t give positive results. Don’t fall into the trap of paying a company to build you “Reel material written custom for you” or some other such nonsense. To put it bluntly – it is a waste of money and will spoil potential opportunities.
TLDR: Only include work where you were cast for a role by a director. This can range from small/low-budget films to Blockbuster Hollywood films. For case-by-case questions, reach out to me and I’ll help you out.
What Type of files do you accept?
Great question! Asking this question means you are likely seriously considering using my services, and for that I thank you!
Short answer – Check the following website to see a list of what all works with the software I use. If it’s missing from that then we’ll probably need to chat to see if I can convert it.

How do I get my files to you for editing?
Contact me and we’ll figure out the best way to make this happen.
Normally, I use a cloud service called OneDrive that you can upload the files to as long as each file is smaller then 10GB in size. If that doesn’t work we can look at other options.
How do I get the finished Reel from you?
I am all about good communication with clients so we’ll find the best way to make this happen.
Normally, I will provide a link for you to view your edited Reel. When all is said and done, I'll provide a separate link for you to download the finished Reel.
